M. Boussard

Marcel Boussard

Marcel Boussard, a French artist, was a master oil painter of interiors scenes. His inspiration came from the beautiful cathedrals that his country was known for. Boussard was born in Albi, France.

Albi is a town in Southern France. Dominating the skyline is the 13th-century, Saint-Cecile Cathedral. The cathedral is a landmark with large interior frescoes, such as the dramatic ‘Last Judgment.’

The ceiling at the Saint-Cecile Cathedral is painted in the Frescoes technique. This is a technique of mural painting executed upon freshly laid plaster. Water is used as a vehicle for the dry powder pigment to merge with plaster. The artist work becomes an integral part of the ceiling.

Boussard has taken this style but instead, uses oil and canvas as his media. The result, stunning, detailed interiors that he has become well known for.
