Martha Guzman, a Colombian artist born in Bogota, began her career over 30 years ago in Caracas, Venezuela where she lived for 10 years while studying at the Cristobal Rojas School of Art along with other various workshops.
In Bogota she held her own workshops teaching the figural & color styles of painting, as well as teaching Art History in the National University of Colombia and the Externship University of Colombia respectively. Her prestigious career has led her to do over twenty solos and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally. Currently her work can be found in galleries across the United States, Panama and Costa Rica. Martha Guzman is a passionate artist in whom painting is an act where she finds herself again and again with the most exquisite and peaceful delights within her senses and spirit. Her figures reflect the silence of meditation and the majestic colors, which are the fundamental elements of her work; the forms are defined through color and contrasts. The taste for the fillings, the glazes and transparencies reflect the intricate technique that is used to provide the mystery and fascination that is characterized in her work.
